Understanding the nature of Way Up Foundation is the first critical step for every student beginning this journey. In a world saturated with fragmented information, it is vital to establish that our institution is neither an opinion group nor a sect imposing closed dogmas. We are, above all, an educational entity that builds its teaching upon a rigorous methodology, supported by the most recent advances in biblical sciences, Textual Criticism, and cultural history.

Our goal is to provide a theological and service-based education that allows the student to “rightly divide the word of truth,” eradicating the errors of improvisation and speculation.

1. Learning as a Progressive Career.

The pedagogical structure of Way Up resembles a high-level university career. Just as in mathematics no one questions the complexity of a derivative before mastering basic arithmetic, our program is designed to be systemic and progressive.

Courses should be approached naturally, recognizing that each level is the immovable foundation for the next:

Introductory Level (Limudei 1-6): Provides the foundations of operational faithfulness and community life, along with a technical introduction to the challenges of Hellenization and applied textual criticism.

Specialized Level (Advanced Courses): This is the superior stage where technical resources are obtained for the deep analysis of biblical languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek) and the exercise of applied Halakhah (applied legal ruling).

At Way Up, Truth is not imposed through sudden, complex concepts; it is presented from different angles and levels of depth, allowing the student to assimilate it in an organic and mature manner.

2. The Challenge of “Speculative Self-Taught Learning”.

We live in the era of the democratization of information. While this has facilitated access to the biblical text, it has also brought a latent danger: the proliferation of erroneous data, lacking academic context and rigor. The risk of self-taught learning without technical guidance is the construction of a “theological Frankenstein,” stitched together by disjointed pieces, speculative conclusions, and personal prejudices.

Many students come to us with pre-established schemes due to this fragmented background. Way Up’s methodology aims to break these molds through careful study and exegesis faithful to the authors’ original intent. Our goal is for the student to learn to read the sacred text for what it says, rather than forcing it to say what the interpreter desires.

3. A Multidimensional Methodology.

Our teaching is neither flat nor one-dimensional. To avoid intellectual stagnation, we utilize the PaRDeS method, which trains the student in four levels of interpretative depth:

1.- Peshat (Literal): The analysis of the simple commandment and tangible physical obedience.

2.- Remez (Hint): The subtle, symbolic, and allusive connection with the rest of the Scripture.

3.- Drush (Inquiry): Practical application through exegesis and complex linguistic context.

4.- Sod (Secret): The profound message that links the text with spiritual realities.

This approach guarantees that the student does not merely accumulate information but develops a spiritual and technical intelligence capable of precisely discerning between divine instruction (D’Oraita), the Messiah’s update (D’Shelich), and human traditions (D’Rabanan).

Conclusion.

We invite each disciple to remain expectant, incorporating what has been learned into their personal knowledge base with intellectual humility. By studying at Way Up Foundation, you are not receiving the private opinion of a leader; you are participating in a serious process of theological restoration.

We embrace the implications of modern scientific, linguistic, and archaeological findings so that you may walk with security and certainty in the holiness that the Creator demands in this 21st century.

When reflecting on education, those of us born and raised under a specific school system usually start with the bias that everything is fine, as if it had always been this way. However, this assumption becomes a barrier to clearly analyzing the current situation. This article does not seek to propose social reforms for the school system, as the existing structures make that almost impossible. The focus is different: as a church, we must understand that we are called to practice a renewed, effective teaching for the new generation—one that guides toward truth and helps disciples use their creativity with dignity and wisdom, regardless of the educational model society adopts.

The monotheistic message of salvation does not change, because it depends solely on God’s mercy. What does require review is the “how” we teach that eternal message. It is useless to maintain obsolete programs and methods that no longer connect with people. The challenge, then, is great: updating strategies and methodologies so that the message is understandable, livable, and relevant.

The educational landscape, both secular and ecclesiastical, faces two major problems:

On one hand, the traditional school system tends to stigmatize those who do not fit into its methods.

On the other, many churches adopt that same model but without the resources to adapt it, falling even further behind.

The result is predictable: archaic, tedious, and ineffective educational programs. And, sadly, we can say that their failure is even greater than that of secular systems.

The Frustration of a Generation

If the new generations already feel frustrated with secular education, how much more so when a Christian model is imposed on them—one that copies, without resources, those very same errors? The consequence is clear: young people are not formed holistically, nor is the spiritual purpose of teaching fulfilled.

That is why this material—and in general all serious reflection on the subject—seeks to pave new ways: providing resources, offering strategies, and giving each teacher a broad margin of action to observe, experiment, and create according to the real needs of their disciples.

Today, both the secular and Christian systems share evident symptoms of deterioration:

The world has not changed through education, but through technology; human quality remains stagnant.

Students become impersonal numbers, prioritizing institutional results over individual growth.

Teaching loses value because students lack motivation; classrooms are transformed into “child parking lots” or “adult prisons.”

Although values like freedom or love are preached, the practice produces individuals whose lives contradict them.

Class materials are static, filled with words that have no real-world application.

Students are educated only to pass to the next level, not to succeed in life.

The teacher-student relationship is reduced to evaluations, controlled by an impersonal system.

The student is led to believe that they are the failure, rather than the system.

Those who do not master certain content are disqualified and labeled as inferior.

A student’s future depends on just one or two grades.

Harmful competitiveness is fostered, destroying humility and social peace.

Standardized evaluations ignore the uniqueness of each individual.

Imposed discipline forces the hiding of emotions, creating “masks” starting in childhood.

Both teachers and students become critics and detractors of the system that formed them.

In the church, teaching suffers a double judgment: if it imitates the world, it is perceived as antiquated; if it breaks patterns, it is accused of “emotionalism.”

Toward a Different Model

Faced with this panorama, the church has an unavoidable challenge: it cannot continue being a reflection of secular failure. Its mission is much higher: to form whole disciples who live out the faith and transmit it with creativity, love, and truth. This implies rethinking methodologies, adapting resources, opening spaces for sensitivity, and, above all, never losing sight of the fact that teaching is not about repeating information, but about guiding people toward a life transformed in God.

The term discipleship in some circles has become synonymous with Christian teaching or education, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be so. The meaning in these cases is broad and inclusive because it can refer to any type of content, course, or teaching material. The focus of the concept of ‘disciple’ is more limited and specific, implying an intensive relationship between an experienced person and others. It can also be called: A mentoring relationship involving the transfer of wisdom, knowledge, experience, and vision.

In the context of teacher-student dynamics in a classroom, the focus is almost always on acquiring knowledge and information, whereas in the context of discipleship, the focus is on shaping principles, values, vision, goals, and also knowledge. In other words, knowledge is not central, but rather the holistic development of individuals, which includes both the teacher and the student in the context of discipleship.

Today’s educational system is something that has been standardized globally, where at some point, it was decided that this was the correct way to conduct classes, and it has remained so over the years. Here, the teacher is at the center of the classroom with the primary objective of group instruction, often following rigid topic structures. In this context, students’ mistakes are typically pointed out by the teacher, and learning is externally reinforced through repetition and rewards.

Conversely, the most effective educational method would be where the tutor plays a more discreet role in the classroom, allowing students to interact with each other and with the tutor; presenting activities to the disciples and allowing them to pursue their own interests while observing and supervising their progress. Educational success lies in developing primarily individualized instruction, where tutors or facilitators work one-on-one with disciples to ensure they fully grasp their tasks and activities.

Students should see the teacher demonstrate an activity at least once, be encouraged to perform that activity independently, and work on solving each challenge themselves. The tutor should guide disciples toward self-realization and self-correction, enabling them to reinforce their learning through various methods accepted by themselves.

The teacher must devise a format for their classes that closely resembles real life, the everyday experiences of their disciples, where each one can act naturally and have the option to learn at their own pace without the imposition of material and standardization.

There is nothing more authentic than allowing disciples to discover their true potential and develop an organized, committed, and focused mind. When they are encouraged to be curious, they become lifelong learners, good citizens, future innovators, and capable leaders who can inspire others.

The world of education today depends almost entirely on its institutionalism, because this is the primary characteristic required to function in the modern world. This institutionalism, to which every nation has subjected its citizens through legality, has resulted in the obligation to define, crystallize, and increasingly enclose each of its educational programs in a system that precisely maintains its legalization and governmental acceptance, rather than adapting to the human nature of the student to better fulfill its educational mission. If it fails to do this, it simply cannot exist.

From the moment this happens, education begins to suffer the most damaging and devastating blow it could receive, from which it may not easily recover. In the case of current educational systems, up to the present day, we do not see that they have been able to achieve this. This mortal blow is killing education at such a rate that most people view education and schools in general merely as a means to achieve authorization in the form of a paper diploma, enabling them to pursue a specific career goal predetermined and conditioned by interests; far from preparing them, they misinform and distort the education of the learner.

In most cases, students simply set the goal of completing all the subjects offered in the curriculum, with the sole aim of achieving the coveted diploma, but without putting in the effort required for the learning they truly need, whether to teach others or to properly practice a specific profession. Therefore, it could be said, without fear of error, that nowadays many graduates of any type of courses or schools do so without being truly ready to apply what they have learned. This results in them entering the job market with no idea of what they should do, when after several years of learning they should not only know their functions but also begin to contribute to their respective fields.

What is happening in our institutions that they are unable to achieve their objectives effectively? Why does the student have to receive so much “general” content that in most cases will be of no use and simply leads them through a long process only to never need it again? Where does current education go wrong?

The answers to these questions lie in the system’s inability to provide an environment of discovery for each student that adapts to their individual characteristics. Unfortunately, this reality is not only seen in secular universities and institutions but also in seminaries and theological institutes. This is why students focus from the outset on their main goal: “graduation.” However, the priority of every student should always be research or the discovery of any content that enriches and intellectually matures them with respect to their potentials.

From the moment content is confined to a specific program format and teaching method without considering the variety of wills and characteristics in each student, the result will be catastrophic because each person learns in different ways depending on the Creator’s characteristics placed within them. If we truly want to improve the education system through any institution, we must begin to understand that learning depends on each person’s abilities and capacities.

Not all students have the same questions about a particular content, nor the same conclusions, nor the same interests. So if they are not given the opportunity to explore each of their concerns and curiosities, they will simply receive information they do not feel is necessary, making it impossible for them to process or analyze it according to their ways of reasoning. Thus, all content ends up being useless to them. Having a rigid program is like throwing a stone at dozens of bottles spaced far apart, aiming to break them all with a single throw. That will never be possible.

The most efficient way to educate is to provide the opportunity for each individual to explore and investigate the questions that a particular topic provokes in them. When students can discover each process according to their analytical methods, their brains will create the necessary networks for that content or subject to be properly fixed according to their individual characteristics. For this, the teacher or tutor must be willing to provide all the time and patience necessary to respond wisely, stimulating the investigation and discovery of all the content under discussion, which in turn leads the student to become much more interested in themselves, trying to lead them to a point where they feel satisfied.

Education should focus on better results by providing information that nourishes the interest of each student, so that they feel the will and curiosity to investigate and discover all possible information regarding their abilities either by age or access to information. When a student can discover the answers to all their questions, and along with those answers receive other questions, the constant search and discovery of new content will achieve a chain of learning that not only strengthens and creates an efficient foundation in the individual but also provides satisfaction and enjoyment.

Therefore, when a person enjoys this process, they will be able to learn any topic and accumulate an unimaginable amount of information that will allow them not only to satisfy their needs but also to help others around them.

One of the most important things for a teacher to consider is creating an environment that allows them to better understand the students, so they can identify each one’s needs and project through them when delivering their content.

For example, it’s difficult for a child to enjoy a book they have to read just for an assignment. But if the teacher can identify the student’s inclinations or particular interests, this could be key to sparking their interest. From there, the teacher could use this to suggest a book that will help them with an assignment or problem. Similarly, in the case of the church, children enjoy stories and comics, but they may become disinterested if we read a biblical story solely in a literary format meant for adults. It’s interesting to see how much they can learn from biblical stories through formats more suitable for their age. I am an example of this—I remember as a child reading non-stop illustrated pamphlets like “Elijah, the Prophet of Fire.”

The teacher should also teach depending on what the disciple needs and what attracts or interests them. It should be clear that curiosity and interest are the most important elements for developing learning. These will keep the learner focused on the topic being taught; otherwise, their brain may become exhausted and begin to wander into unrelated thoughts simply because they don’t find the topic important or interesting.

Furthermore, it’s beneficial for the educational process to create positive interpersonal relationships between the teacher and each student, as well as among all class members and God. This is truly how a sense of belonging can best be developed within the group, while also providing an environment that helps meet their individual and collective needs.

Another aspect to consider when teaching is the method of memorizing content, as repeating something that isn’t understood or interesting will make learning tedious and frustrating, leading to the loss of student interest. Conversely, if you create an environment where learners are motivated by discovering something new, that experience of discovery will enable their brain to process all the necessary mechanisms to retain and label that information as important.

In conclusion, the teacher should always remember that part of their task is to continuously maintain or attract the attention of the learners, so they always feel enjoyment and surprise when reviewing the content, thereby motivating them to further investigate it.
