Portion 3: God created a world for me.

Golden text: Genesis 1:26-31.

Understanding the text: All earthly creation was made for man, so God endowed him with his spiritual image, so that he could make correct use of all creation. Notice that God did something special: he “said” to man (v. 28), which never happened with the rest of creation, because if man has his image he needs dignity for a correct projection of his individuality. Now, God did not give man everything to do what he wanted without regard for his welfare, but to administer and care for it correctly. The fact that God created the world for man not only implies making use of it, but also that he must value it and make right use of everything.
