Day 2: Ecclesiastes 1-2

Day 3: Psalm 3

Day 4: Psalm 64

Day 5: Ezekiel 6-7

Day 6: Mark 3

I- Aware of each situation.

The Bible teaches that a wise person perceives and discerns the things that really influence life[1]. Every child of God must look at the situations of life and ask himself what the outcome of each will be.

For example, if you go with friends, you should ask yourself: Will this group lift me up spiritually or bring me down? It is true that sometimes you can decide which group to be in, but in others the person is forced to be in a situation that entails moral dangers. In the face of this, he must clearly and firmly understand that he is not alone, God is his main protection and care, therefore, he must be subject to Him so as not to fall into confusion and thus be diluted in sin. This is undoubtedly the best protection.

However, this portion will be talking about everything that man can foresee and decide.

II- The commandment provides.

The Golden Text mentions the case of a man who marries a woman he met in war. Why does he talk about this, because the children of God must learn that attraction at first sight is based on superficial aspects and that only time helps to know the other person better. This man did not meet the girl in a Bible study, nor in a congregational activity, therefore, they do not have a shared spiritual or value goal in life. Both are sure to have big problems in the future when they start to get to know each other.

Nowadays it is very common to find couples who go on a date and then one of them wants to give himself to the Lord. When this happens in a short process of evaluation where the point of faith was not found, it is of concern all the things that could happen between them. Perhaps, those who do not know the biblical text or have not lived the pastoral experience, could think: “God does everything and that will end in a happy way.” Yes, you are right about God’s control, but all congregations have had diverse experiences in this regard. Because God teaches the commandments so that man can do them and understand that he is responsible for what happens. That is why He teaches that the commandments are for you to do well in life; It could be said that each of these focuses on the prevention of problems that can be solved by man.

That is why the devil has attacked so much each of the hundreds of commandments that God has given, within Christendom, because he knows that by taking them away each believer is exposed, without divine counsel or protection in most situations of life.

III- Pending the future.

Similarly, to the previous portion, when talking about the rebellious child, another reality is presented with respect to preventing the future. If a couple marries for superficial reasons, it is very likely that there will be no harmony and that will almost certainly bring difficult children. History is full of problematic children for society because of dysfunctional homes.

Some couples behave in such a selfish way, thinking only of their enjoyment, that they lose sight of the future. They never wonder: Will this person be a good role model for my future children? Will you want the same kind of family and home that I want to build? Only on this basis can you have a better idea about the person you are dating. When someone begins to look at their future and think about the consequences of their actions, they become wise.

IV- Promiscuity, fornication, rape and adultery.

People are often heard to ask about the differences between promiscuity, fornication, rape, and adultery. In general, it can be said that:

(1) Promiscuity is when there is sexual intercourse without any commitment.

(2) Fornication is when sexual relations have some commitment to a person without a marital relationship.

(3) Rape is when someone is forced to have sex without that person’s consent.

(4) Adultery is when someone has sex outside of their marriage.

Knowing these differences is very useful to understand the different cases of this portion.

Questions:

1.- According to Mr 3:31-35, could Jesus be considered a rebellious son? Why?

2.- A person at your work confesses to you that he cannot contain himself before the opposite sex and always dominates you and asks you if this is fornication or adultery. How would you classify that, and what advice would you give him?
